Two Tone Tacos Travels

We don’t know what we’re doing, we’re just trying to have fun!

Colombia Summary

Colombia was incredible! The scale of the mountains is ridiculous, but they are the Andes…There was good food, and nice people. We made several new friends, which was great, and there were way too many cops. We’re excited to see places we missed on our way back!

Days in Country: 29 not including the time we spent back in the USA

Miles Driven: 2190

Nights spent indoors: 33, but this includes 17 days back in the USA

Things we weren’t expecting:

This highways are really nice! But there are an insane number of tollbooths keeping them that way. There is soup everywhere, it’s pretty much the national food, this was KoKo’s favourite. We saw very few American chains or touristy spots, even at the touristy spots. Unlike most of Latin America so far, Colombia has very little trash dumped random places. And the views! Everything here is very grand.

Things we didn’t enjoy:

It was really difficult to find convenance stores, so we spent a lot of time driving around looking for them. There were always cops, and we got pulled over at least once a day so they could check our documents. Annoying. Our least favourite thing was hearing the changing state of things from our local friend, but this did keep us out of unsafe areas.

Some things we recommend:

The Trampoline of Death Road

Le Lajas Church

Drug Hippos! And Cappyberras!!

El Chullo BBQ Restaurant

Los Estoraques Unique Natural Area

The Top Gear Bridge
