Two Tone Tacos Travels

We don’t know what we’re doing, we’re just trying to have fun!

Day 646: August 12, 2025

ODO: 343,090

Most of our week is spent online at work. It’s very rare that we have such a work heavy week outside of the office. We don’t get as much friend time as we would like, which is sad when Hanno and Anna leave us to continue their journey north.

We do have a morning reserved for more errands since we need to pick up our laundry and go back for our vaccines. Picking up the laundry is easy, but we get turned away from vaccines again. This time they take our phone number and tell us either tomorrow or Monday. Maybe they still haven’t assembled enough people to open a vial. Since we’re in town, we do a small explore along the lake. There are so many new birds! There’s even what looks like a burrowing owl staring us down. We grab lunch for everyone and head back to the house for some light chores and an early night.

Another day without a call for vaccines. Everyday that passes without a yellow fever vaccine makes the mosquitoes seem more and more menacing.
Everyone skips breakfast because it’s buffet day! First stop, the farmers market where we meet up with Freddy and Jo! This is a nice surprise, we haven’t seen them since Chile when Berne helped fixed their u-joints. After a good morning visit, we walk over to the buffet. It’s very fancy, white table clothes and everything. The grill is full of delicious cuts of meat and sushi, lots of sides, fruits and veggies, desserts and appetizers. As one should at a buffet, we stuff ourselves over the course of a couple of hours. Once we roll ourselves back to the vehicles, the rest of the day is spent siesta-ing. No one needs dinner.

KoKo takes advantage of the very quiet Sunday to touch up the paint on our drawers. They’ve gotten a little banged up, and need a refresh. And boy do they look good once they get it! We walk the small neighborhood, and make (burn) a large batch of popcorn for future snacking. A nice, quiet Sunday.

We check the clinic again, and they tell us manana…again. They promise it will happen because they are now up to seven people. Oh well. Back to the house, and back to work.

Our morning walk has a tribal drum soundtrack this morning. We never figure out where it’s coming from. Back into town, back to the clinic. Today IS the day! We both get jabbed, it all takes five minutes. We feel good about visiting the jungle now. We also figure out where the hole is in KoKo’s air mattress. It’s leaking from everywhere, just right though the fabric. There’s no patching it. Now we look for a sporting goods store.
