Two Tone Tacos Travels

We don’t know what we’re doing, we’re just trying to have fun!

Peru Round 2 Summary

We love love LOVE Peru! The people are great, the food is great, and the scenery is so wild, its hard to describe. The elevation is something that needs to be experienced. The mountains are so beautiful. And the entire country is literally an archeological site. ALL OF IT.

Days in Country: 29

Miles Driven: 2735

Nights spent indoors: 7

Things we weren’t expecting:

We had already done Peru, and we had a rough transition back to it from relatively western Chile. Apparently we were gone long enough to forget. Having spent time in the northern mountains our first time through, we had no idea how many archeological sites are just scattered throughout the southern mountains! A person could spend a lifetime exploring and excavating and not get close to the end. And it’s all so very accessible! Just there, on the sides of roads where any and everyone can experience them. Inca words seem to have several official spellings (Inca/Inka), which was interesting to learn. Speaking of Inca’s, we learned about the Wari, who are a pre-Inca culture who may actually be responsible for a fair amount of the large scale stonework. KoKo has some research to do to get to the bottom of things.

Things we didn’t enjoy:

Other drivers. They are the absolute worst. Rude, and aggressive, but at least this time none of them hit us. They also pass with no regard to personal safety, think blind corner uphill in the fog and rain, kind of thing. Salmonella, for obvious reasons…Being out of breath getting in and out of bed isnt our favorite, but eventually we acclimated (stopped caring).

Some things we recommend:

Literally everything in the Nazca area

Literally Everything in the Sacred Valley
